Smokin' Gun is a high energy roadhouse blues band working in the US Northwest since 1992. The band's line-up includes duel lead guitars, bass, drums and lead vocalist. Their independent release, "Bad Luck Blues", features a diet of primarily hard-drivin' Southern flavored blues-rock. The guitars are strong throughout the CD, delivering plenty of potent blues-rock riffs. Vocals are distinctive, roughly approximated by combining the singing styles Clarence Spady, Popa Chubby, and James Mangrum (Black Oak Arkansas).

RARE OLDIES SOUNDIES WITH MR CAB CALLOWAY ! Cabell "Cab" Calloway (December 25, 1907 -- November 18, 1994) was an American jazz singer and bandleader.
Calloway was a master of energetic scat singing and led one of the United States' most popular African American big bands from the start of the 1930s through the late 1940s. Calloway's band featured performers including trumpeters Dizzy Gillespie and Adolphus "Doc" Cheatham, saxophonists Ben Webster and Leon "Chu" Berry, New Orleans guitar ace Danny Barker, and bassist Milt Hinton. Calloway continued to perform until his death in 1994 at the age of 86.

This is the only known filmed version of "Smokestack Lightning" by Howlin' Wolf. This was shot in England during the famed American Folk Blues Festival tours and features the legendary Hubert Sumlin on guitar. In addition to other great Howlin' Wolf footage, our archive houses many iconic blues performances from Muddy Waters, Lightning Hopkins, Sonny Boy Williamson, Willie Dixon, Son House, Mississippi Fred McDowell, John Lee Hooker, Big Mama Thornton, T-Bone Walker and Buddy Guy.

Sonny Boy Williamson (b.1912 in Mississippi and d. 1965 in Arkansas) was the master of the Blues harp. This video focuses on one of his visits to Sweden. In it he plays with fantastic local musicians on guitar and bass. Sonny Boy Williams is a true giant in the Blues world, and shows off his amazing talent in this informal video.

Blues legends Taj Mahal and Keb' Mo' stopped by the Paste studio on Aug. 14 to promote their latest collaboration record, the cleverly titled, TajMo. The duo started off with Taj Mahal's well known tune, Diving Duck Blues, which is featured on their new album. Taj Mahal then played the ukulele to a Keb'Mo' track, "Life is Beautiful," and the pair finished with fan favorite, "Corinna." Information on the blues pair's tour dates can be found here.
